HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN INTO SPORTS? IF SO WHAT DID YOU PLAY. EVENTS YOU DONE. FITNESS ROUTINES YOU HAVE TRIED?
Yes! I have always been a sports person. I played football, baseball, and even competed in rodeos. I remember my father taking me and my siblings to the gym when we where kids. We always thought he was the strongest man we knew! We where the “Cook” kids as most people knew us. When my brother and I where old enough to join, my dad got us a limited membership to Texas Gym. We where on cloud nine! The workout bug has never stopped for us “Cook” kids. Many people would be surprised to now I am actually the small one in the family haha. I have competed in powerlifting events with gold metals in the firefighter Olympics, ran a half marathon, a 5k a 10k and who knows what next. The best thing I did is marry someone who is just as competitive as I am, and shares the same fitness interests as I do. We always challenge each other to be the best we can be.
BIGGEST CF ACCOMPLISHMENT?
My best CrossFit accomplishment to date, other than joining lol, would be a bar muscle up! Honestly, I was a skeptic of Crossfit for many years. I was a traditional workout guy as my father was. The basic muscle group day split and some cardio and call it a day. I started Crossfitting, and soon was injured. I blamed it on the movements and said it was made to injure a person. I could not of been more wrong! Its all about the coaching, the coaches and culture the gym that you are going to creates. “BCCF”
CF GOAL FOR THE FUTURE?
I do have goals but I don’t like to do things in mediocrity. My wife once expressed interest in running a half marathon with me. Most people that know me would laugh as I am not a runner. I trained my butt off for several months and signed us up. She was skeptic and stated we have not prepared ourselves like we should. I just laughed and said “hey I know if I, can so can you.” We completed both of our firs half marathon together June of 2015. As of now I would like to compete in a Crossfit game some day.
FAVORITE PAST TIME?
I have 3 awesome kids! So my past time is spent with family. My wife and I try to keep the kids interested in being athletes as well. So……….. between dance competitions, baseball and soccer we keep full schedules!
FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL?
Hahaha I LOVE eating out! We usually cook at home for the most part as it is better for ya. I do however indulge in occasional Mexican food anything dish!! Chips and salsa is my kryptonite!
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS SCARED TO TRY CROSSFIT?
To a person starting or scared to start Crossfit, I would say jump in! Get a good gym! A good Coach and hang on for the ride! It’s the most challenging and rewarding thing a person can do for themselves. Crossfit not only changes a person’s fitness level but strengthens a person mentally as well.
