HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN INTO SPORTS?
IF SO WHAT DID YOU PLAY, EVENTS YOU HAVE DONE, FITNESS ROUTINES YOU HAVE TRIED?
Not really, as a kid, my dad would write notes to get me out of running in P.E. LOL I played volleyball and basketball in junior high with my friends but it wasn’t really until after I had kids I started being more active. I started running in 2011 after my dad passed away and ended up completing several full marathons before I decided 26.2 miles was just too far! Now I don’t want to run any more than is necessary
for the day’s WOD! It has been a true blessing for me to become part of the BCCF family. I was looking for a fitness routine when we moved here 4 years ago and tried a few different things before finding BCCF shortly after they opened. I participated in the endurance program for about a year (while I was still running marathons) then I signed up for a rookie comp last November and have been coming to regular CrossFit classes ever since.
BIGGEST CF ACCOMPLISHMENT?
Definitely conquering Pullups! As a kid I did not have any upper body strength so I never thought I would ever be able to get one pull up much less complete any wods containing pullups.
CF GOAL FOR THE FUTURE?
Handstand pushups and improving my OHS. OHS are the enemy!
Favorite Pastime?
Watching my kids play whatever sport they are in at the moment, hanging out with family and friends, and sleeping!
FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL?
I don’t really have a favorite cheat meal, more like favorite cheat treats: anything chocolate, waffle fries from Chick-fil-A, red velvet cake!
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS SCARED TO TRY CROSSFIT?
Do it! It is normal to feel intimidated in the beginning; it took me quite some time of being curious about it to finally step in and try it. But everything can be modified and there are always people around to encourage you. It’s
become one of the best parts of my day!
