HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN
INTO SPORTS?
IF SO
WHAT DID YOU PLAY, EVENTS YOU HAVE DONE, FITNESS ROUTINES YOU HAVE TRIED?

I played softball & volleyball growing up and was a cheerleader back before you had to throw twelve back handsprings to make the squad. Before walking into a CrossFit gym in 2013 I was 10lbs overweight, smoking a pack of cigarettes per day, working full time, and a single mother of four.  I was just looking for a healthy way to deal with stress.  Since then I’ve competed in the CrossFit Open, several CrossFit challenges, ran a few 5k, & conquered the Spartan Beast in Austin.

BIGGEST CF ACCOMPLISHMENT?

My biggest CF accomplishment is probably going into 16.3 with only one bar MU under my belt and doing 13. I also managed to do Grace RX at 8 1/2 months pregnant in under 5 min.

CF GOAL FOR THE FUTURE?

I would be lying if I didn’t say a ring MU wasn’t my biggest goal for the future. It’s that one movement that all women dream about getting in this sport.

 Favorite Pastime?

My favorite past time really is grunt work with the CrossFit community. There’s nothing like getting shit done with a group of people working as hard as you are & then having a beer to celebrate. I’m also a pretty big fan of having a cup of coffee in the morning with Nate & a healthy amount of trash talking.

FAVORITE CHEAT MEAL?

My favorite cheat meal is easy……..CHEESECAKE!! It’s always cheesecake.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO IS SCARED TO TRY CROSS FIT?

What would I tell someone that’s scared to try CrossFit?? I would tell them that we were all scared the first time. I’ve had memberships to all the “globo gyms”, bought into all the infomercials, done the cabbage soup diet, did hcg injections, etc……. I’ve taken the “easy road” and I never made it anywhere. At some point it stopped being just about losing weight and a quick fix. CrossFit is a place I go to clear my head, work on my physical & mental weaknesses, encourage & be encouraged by others, & set a strong example for my daughters. It’s something I enjoy doing with my husband. Some days I’m first to finish and some days I’m last, but I never regret going. Coming back from this last pregnancy (5 months postpartum) has been a roller coaster. CrossFit has helped me regain my strength & confidence. I’m better at 37 than I was at 27 because of CrossFit so there’s really nothing to be scared of.

TRY OUT CrossFit just like Jodi did and you won’t regret it. Click here to get started.
