What motivated you to start CrossFit?
- I had friends and co workers that did CrossFit and they were super fit! I would see them doing CF movements and workouts at the gym I worked at, and I thought it looked fun. I could see the benefits of the workouts, but also saw the camaraderie and community CrossFit brought.
What has been your greatest accomplishment since starting?
- A mindset shift. I used to beat myself up over not living up to my expectations during a workout or competition. But now I realize if I give 100% effort and never make excuses, then there is nothing to be ashamed of. This mindset not only helped me in the gym, but also in my work and personal life.
CrossFit goal for the future?
- 2020 = strict handstand pushups!
What does life look like outside the box? Hobbies, cheat meals, meal prepping, etc…
- I travel a lot for work, but also make it a priority to spend time with hubby and puppies (Jaeger and Lucy). I enjoy reading, eating (clean and unclean!), and trying different craft beers!
What would you tell someone who is scared to try CrossFit?
- Intensity is relative. The only thing that matters when you walk through the door is that you gave 100% effort. It doesn’t matter what the workout looked like for you or if you scaled every movement, it matters that you walked through the door and completed the workout in a safe manner. No one is judging, and everyone respects plain, honest hard work.
What is your favorite thing about BCCF?
- The coaches! They really get to know who you are, what you are comfortable with, and your fitness level. Whenever I have a question, they are attentive and helpful.
